Improving research-policy-practice engagement: Lessons learnt and ways forward

This chapter summarises the main lessons learnt from volume. It begins by connecting themes discussed in publication with wider societal challenges. then six key lessons. Two relate to conceptual developments: The need for shared understanding, vocabulary and clarity; a call view policy practice as two parts of same whole rather than separate contexts. Three pertain enabling systematic high-quality production use research: improve research quality it well; deeper more meaningful collaboration between researchers, makers practitioners; enhanced governance through renewed leadership, stronger incentives appropriate funding. Finally, last message calls greater focus on understanding “what works what works’’. ends proposal advance this agenda concrete ways.
